NASA Study Improves Ability To Predict Aerosols' Effect On Cloud Cover
Published August 19, 2008, 7:09 am, PollutionOnline
Using a novel theoretical approach, researchers from NASA and other institutions have identified the common thread that determines how aerosols from human activity, like the particles from burning of vegetation and forests, influence cloud cover and ultimately affect climate.
Cogeneration Can Slash Carbon and Costs
Published August 19, 2008, 5:49 am, Environmental News Network
Cogeneration of electricity and heat is one of the most promising means of using existing technologies for sustainable ends, but it is also one of the most neglected and least understood. Cogeneration can dramatically increase energy efficiency, slash carbon emissions, and save money.

The study improves researchers' ability to predict whether aerosols will increase or decrease cloud cover.
Antarctic Climate: Short-term Spikes, Long-term Warming Linked To Tropical Pacific
Published August 15, 2008, 6:34 am, Environmental News Network
Dramatic year-to-year temperature swings and a century-long warming trend across West Antarctica are linked to conditions in the tropical Pacific Ocean, according to a new analysis of ice cores conducted by scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Washington (UW).

- yet2.com: Water for irrigation extracted from moisture in the air and soil through solar power: Operating on solar power (or on other energy where available), the system chills water in a tank; pipes extend from the water tank to and from rows of plants. Cold water is circulated through the imperforated pipes (irrigation pipes with no holes), producing constant condensation on the pipe?s surface for consumption by the plants.
